Despite his easygoing nature, Bolin is fiercely competitive. He thrives on the challenge of a difficult situation and is driven to succeed, whether it's in a game of water polo or a difficult mission on board the USS Tokyo. He is always pushing himself to be better and to find new solutions to problems. This drive to succeed has led him to develop a reputation as a problem solver, someone who can think on their feet and find creative solutions to even the most challenging problems.

Bolin's easygoing and competitive nature work together to create a well-rounded individual who is capable of working well in a team or leading a group. He is equally comfortable taking charge of a situation or stepping back to support others. His experience with aquatic sports has taught him to be adaptable and flexible, and he brings this mindset to his work on board the USS Tokyo. With his problem-solving skills and competitive drive, Bolin is a valuable asset to any team and is sure to make a name for himself in Starfleet.
Strengths & Weaknesses Bolin's strength lies in his ability to stay focused under pressure and his talent for problem-solving. He has a competitive edge and a drive to succeed, which has helped him excel in his career as a Starfleet officer. He is also easy-going, which makes him approachable and allows him to work well in team settings.

On the other hand, Bolin can be quite stubborn at times, which can lead to conflict with others who have differing opinions. He can also be overly competitive, which may make him push himself and others too hard. Additionally, Bolin has a tendency to avoid medical issues due to anxiety, which could potentially put him and his crewmates at risk if he neglects to take care of his health.
Ambitions Aside from starting a family and commanding a starship, Bolin has two other major ambitions. The first is to explore uncharted regions of space, searching for new planets, anomalies, and phenomena. He is fascinated by the unknown and the possibility of discovering something truly unique and groundbreaking. Bolin sees space exploration as the ultimate adventure and challenge, and dreams of making significant contributions to Starfleet's knowledge and understanding of the universe.

Bolin also wants to improve relations between races of the Federation and the Bolian people. Although Bolin is a proud Starfleet officer, he still has a strong connection to his Bolian heritage and feels a responsibility to represent and honor his people. He hopes to be able to bridge the cultural divide between the Bolians and other Federation species, and to help others understand and appreciate the unique qualities and traditions of his people. Bolin sees this as an important step in fostering greater unity and cooperation within the Federation, and hopes that he can make a meaningful difference in this regard.
Hobbies & Interests One of his biggest passions is aquatic sports, which he loves to participate in using the holodeck. He spends countless hours exploring various virtual oceans and competing in simulated water sports such as swimming, diving, and water polo. However, Bolin doesn't limit himself to the holodeck, as he thoroughly enjoys exploring new oceans and planets with diverse marine life.

When he is not indulging in aquatic sports or exploring new oceans, Bolin loves to listen to relaxing musical melodies. He finds music therapeutic and soothing, especially after a long and grueling mission. Bolin enjoys a variety of musical genres, from classical symphonies to the modern ambient melodies. He often listens to music during his free time or before going to bed to calm his mind and relax his body. Bolin is an individual with a curious and adventurous spirit, always eager to learn and explore new things.

Personal History Ensign Bolin was born and raised on the planet Bolarus IX, known for its aquatic environments and water sports. From a young age, he developed a passion for swimming, diving, and surfing, spending most of his free time on the planet's vast oceans.
Bolin's father, a prominent doctor on the planet, always pushed him to follow in his footsteps and become a physician. However, Bolin's interests lay elsewhere, and he rebelled against his father's wishes. The pressure to excel in the medical field gave him anxiety, and he found solace in the water.

After completing his studies at a local university, Bolin applied to Starfleet Academy. He hoped to explore the galaxy and fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot. Despite his father's disappointment, Bolin was thrilled to begin his Starfleet career. While at the Academy, Bolin found he did well with Engineering work. Understanding the various propulsion and energy flow systems was important for pilots to understand.

By sophomore year, Bolin had changed majors to Engineering.

As an Ensign in Starfleet, Bolin spent lots of his free time training to become a pilot, practicing his flying skills in the flight simulators and in shuttlecraft. He excelled in his training and soon earned a reputation as a skilled and dedicated pilot. This was in addition to his budding career as an engineer.

In his free time, Bolin continued to indulge in his love of aquatic sports, taking every opportunity to swim, dive, and surf whenever he found himself on a water-covered planet. His experiences in the water gave him a unique perspective on life and helped him remain calm and focused during the most intense flight simulations.

Despite his rocky relationship with his father, Bolin remained in regular contact with his family back on Bolarus IX. He hoped that one day his father would come to accept his decision to become a Starfleet officer and see the value in his career choice.

As his career progressed, Bolin flew shuttles less and spent more time in Engineering. As a propulsion specialist, he often found himself working on shuttles and runabouts. He began to find himself more often assigned to the engine room.

He became familiar with a variety of ships through his postings. He moved from the Intrepid class USS Odin to the Akira class USS Red Cloud. On the latter ship he moved from the confinements of a propulsion specialist to a general Engineering Officer. Now his responsibility grew. He learned a great deal aboard the Red Cloud while serving under an Andorian Chief Engineer named Chylok th’Kaal.

He made enough of a mark to be assigned a transfer to the Nebula class USS Chesapeake as Assistant Chief Engineer. Over the next three years, Bolin worked his way up to Chief Engineer of the Chesapeake. To him it seemed as if the days of flying shuttles aboard the USS Odin was a lifetime ago.

A new captain for the Chesapeake came with a change in crew. This saw Bolin transferred to a new assignment.
